Running Battle Against Cancer
published: Tuesday | June 12, 2007

Dwight Richards leads the luminary ceremony - Andrew Smith / Photography Editor

It is now an eagerly anticipated annual event, but the Jamaica Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is serious business. Anyone who has dealt with a loved one’s battle with the dreaded disease knows that cancer invariably wins this race, and many times, patients literally waste away before our very eyes.

From Saturday night through to the early hours of Sunday morning, the faithful participants once again lit candles and did laps around the field at the Police Officers’ Club on Hope Road, in an effort to raise funds for continued work in the fight against cancer. Local corporate executives, cancer survivors, as well as families of survivors, were all in attendance. Here are scenes from what you missed.
