LONG ISLAND, New York:

Olympian Aleen Bailey, Decosma Wright and Davita Prendergast were among Jamaican winners at Sunday's Island Games held at Mitchell Field Complex in Long Island, New York.

Bailey, warming up for the National Championships within two weeks time, raced to an easy victory in the women's 100m in 11.46 seconds, while Holmwood Technical's Schillonie Calvert won the girls' event in 11.74.

Lerone Clarke won his 100m heat in 10.67, but had to settle for second overall behind Michael Rodgers ( 10.52).

Clarke said he went into the race with a tight hamstring and the idea was "just to test it ... I am okay now."

In the sprint hurdles, Jamaicans Decosma Wright of Lincoln and Calabar High's Warren Weir were winners.

Wright, formerly of Bridgeport and G.C. Foster College, took the men's 110m hurdles in 13.74, while Weir took his event in 15.06.

Calabar won the boys' sprint relay ahead of Canarsie. The Calabar quartet of Oshane Bailey, Ramone McKenzie, Weir and Garfield German stopped the clock in 41.04 to beat Canarsie (42.97). St. Jago, with Yohan Blake, made a last-minute withdrawal.

Calabar also took one-two in the boys' 400m hurdles event as Anthony White (54.17) won ahead of his teammate, Rowan Gooden (54.32).

College/open women's 400m

In the college/open women's 400m, Jamaican entries Andrea Sutherland of Edwin Allen (59.28) and Andrea Reid of Holmwood (60.75) were second and sixth respectively.

Alpha's Claudia Calder won the girls' high jump with a leap of 1.70 metres. Calder, who failed on all three attempts at 1.75m, beat compatriot Kadeen Isaacs of Manchester High (1.65m).

St. Jago's Sahakaye Matthias won the girls' long jump with a leap of 4.96m.

In the girls' triple jump, St. Jago's Sahakaye Matthias (10.99m) finished second behind Ayanna Alexander of Trinidad & Tobago (13.20m).
