JAMAICA'S AMATEURS continued their battle for honours as the BNS Amateur Tennis Championships continued at the Liguanea Club on Tuesday night.

Tyler Chin, who was knocked out of the recent Top 16 tournament for men in the early rounds last week, got by Nigel Casserly 6-3 6-0 in the men's Open section.

In other games, Yussuf Migoko defeated Brain Morris 6-2, 6-1, Adam Harris defeated Carlo Pettinato 6-3, 6-2 and Matthew Rodrigues downed Dane Williams 6-1, 6-0.

In Class One doubles action, the combination of George Williams and Roger Lyn proved to be too much for the junior pair of Akeem Hinds and Orick Angus whom they defeated 7-5, 6-4.

In Class Three doubles play, the number two-seeded pair of Douglas Kong and Kenneth Lewis defeated C. Lloyd Allen and Carl Blissett 6-1, 6-3.

Norman Elliot and Andrew Lowe got by Randolph Bariffe and Jordache Deuce 6-4, 6-2 while Allie McNab and Cecil Edwards beat the pair of Ricardo Livingston and Cassius Watson 6-4, 6-4.

Mixed doubles

In mixed doubles play, Sharon Donaldson and Peter Berry got by Natannia Lummen and Bariffe 6-1, 6-3, Imega McNab and Allan McNab beat Raquel Bryan and Orick Angus 6-4, 6-0, while Sandy Hue and Jack Page battled past Michelle Lee and George Williams 3-6, 6-1, 8-6.

Meanwhile, in the Top 16 invitational tournament which was held over the weekend, national representative Dominic Pagon proved to be too hot to handle as he got by recent Davis Cup debutante Eldad Campbell 7-5, 6-4.

Campbell took charge of the match early but Pagon, who attends the William and Mary College in the United States, soon restored order before going on to a straight-sets win.
