New ambassadors to serve in Europe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade yesterday announced the appointment and reassignment of two ambassadors who will serve in Europe.

Joy Wheeler, director of the Caribbean and Americas department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, has been appointed as Ambassador to Germany and Ambassador Marcia Gilbert-Roberts has been reassigned to Belgium and the European Union.

Mrs. Wheeler, who holds a Master of Science degree in International Relations from the University of the West Indies, is expected to assume office in Berlin this August. She will replace Ambassador Gilbert-Roberts who was posted to Germany in 2002.

Ambassador Gilbert-Roberts, who holds a Master of Arts degree in Psycholinguistics from the University of Besancon, France, is expected to assume duties shortly.
