Manchester, Tigers in top clash
published: Saturday | June 16, 2007

Donovan Sinclair - File

Joint leaders Manchester will enter the lair of Kingston's Tigers and engage the hosts in a battle among the top teams in the seventh round Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) Super Cup at Sabina Park today, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Manchester are on 17 points, the same as St. Elizabeth, but they will be gunning for at least first innings points this weekend, especially after getting only a point in a no-result contest against Melbourne last week.

Kingston are third on 15 points, and are followed by Melbourne (14), Westmoreland (13), Jamaica Defence Force (12), St. Catherine Cricket Club (10), Lucas (five), Kensington (five) and Trelawny (four).

key players

Expected to lead Manchester's charge against the Tigers is Donovan Sinclair, one of few batsmen to score centuries this season.

Domain Sangster, Matthew Sinclair, Gary Graham and Jeffrey Scott should play the supporting role.

In the bowling department, which defended 114 against St. Elizabeth, Manchester will be spearheaded by pacer Neive McNally, with support from left-arm spinner André Dwyer, Sangster and Donovan Sinclair and David Powell.

As for the Tigers, Chadwick Walton and Simon Jackson will lead the batting with help from Kerry Scott, Jowayne Robinson and Fabian Forbes while Forbes, Robinson, Audley Sanson and Scott should carry the bulk of the bowling.
