From politics to legal eagle
published: Monday | June 18, 2007

Andrea Moore

Andrea Moore knows the law, and one she lives by is never allow a tourist to know more about your country than you do.

Ms. Moore runs a private legal practice with her sister Diane Moore in Kingston where she specialises in litigation, conveyance law and estate planning.

She will be running for the West Rural St. Andrew seat for the People's National Party (PNP) in the upcoming elections.

A graduate of the University of the West Indies (UWI), she attained a degree in economics and management studies. In 2000, she received a Bachelor of Law degree at UWI and graduated in 2002 from the Norman Manley Law School. She was admitted to the Jamaican Bar the same year. In 2004, she was also admitted to the Barbadian Bar.

However, her parents were the first to instil in her a rule she would learn to follow, and that was a love for the Jamaican countryside.

"No tourist should come to Jamaica and know more about it than we do," was what her father would say.

During her childhood, her parents would reward their children with trips around the country as rewards for good performance.

Now, if she really wants to enjoy nature, an occasional horseback ride does the trick.

Serving community and people has always been a part of her life. She was a member of the Kiwanis movement for 14 years and, at one point, was president-elect.

But she is not all about law and politics. She enjoys watching football and listening to classical music.
