Investigations into the death of Pakistan cricket coach, Bob Woolmer, have closed and so remains the room where he stayed at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston, while his team played during the ICC Cricket World Cup.Mr. Woolmer was found unconscious in room 374 on the 12th floor of the hotel on March 18, after a chambermaid stumbled upon his body.
Speaking with The Gleaner yesterday, general manager of the Pegasus, Eldon Bremner, said it would be another three to four months before the room is available for reservations.
Blood, vomit and faeces were reportedly found in the hotel room when the 58-year-old coach was found.
"The room will have to be refurbished, such as the carpeting and flooring. There is major work needed in that room, including the carpets that were stained and so we will have to buy carpets," said Mr. Bremner.
The room has been left untouched since the death of the coach. It was only last week Friday that the now infamous room was handed over to the hotel said Mr. Bremner.
"Right now, we are having major renovations to our executive floors and that renovation will include the 12th floor," he added.
A week ago, Commissioner of Police Lucius Thomas closed the book onthe investigations into the death of the Indian-born coach, and stated that he died from natural causes.
At the same time, do not expect the room to be named after the batsman-turned coach.
"I don't think it would be proper to do so and I wouldn't, given the circumstances," said Mr. Bremner.
