Edwards disappointed despite five-wicket haul

CHESTER-LE-STREET, England (CMC):

West Indies pacer Fidel Edwards is not pleased with his performance despite his five-wicket haul on the fourth day of the final Test against England at the Riverside Ground yesterday.

"It is pretty good to get five wickets, but I am disappointed in the way I bowled to get the five wickets," the 25-year-old said.

"I bowled too many four balls and I went for over ahundred, I don't think many bowlers would love to go for over a hundred.

"It's been a long and hard day for me in the field. We were down one bowler short, missing Bravo (Dwayne) but the guys pulled through it. He (Bravo) is an important bowler for us, he is the type of bowler who will get you a wicket, but he is ok to bat."

Edwards finished with five for 112 as England were dismissed for 400 in their first innings, a lead of 113 runs.

Key wickets

The right-arm quick, playing only his second test of their four-match rubber, grabbed the key wickets of openers Andrew Strauss and Alistair Cook along with that of Michael Vaughan's and the prolific Kevin Pietersen's on the third day Sunday.

He also accounted for wicket-keeper/batsman Matt Prior yesterday, after he had scored 62 and helped to bolster England's lower order.

Edwards said Pietersen's wicket had given him a measure of satisfaction.

"I tried to give him a couple of short balls when he came in because he has been out on a few occasions this series to the short ball. He has been very aggressive to us and it was good for us to get him so early in the evening yesterday (Sunday evening)," Edwards pointed out.

Good innings

"The guys (Paul Collingwood and Prior) came in and played good innings. They got England out of trouble, but what we had to do was keep sticking to it and bowl to our plans and we didn't bowl to our plans as well as we should have."

West Indies ended the day at 83 for three, still 29 runs behind and Edwards said the visitors would be looking to bat the entire day to ensure a draw.

"Shiv has been batting pretty well this series for us and he is still there at the wicket. Chris (Gayle) is still there as well, those two are very experienced batsmen and we still have (Dwayne) Bravo and Marlon Samuels to come as well," Edwards said.

"We will be looking to go out there and bat out the day tomorrow. I don't think we will be going out there tomorrow looking to win this match. At this stage a drawwould be pretty good for us."
