Portland's most wanted convicted
published: Saturday | June 23, 2007

Portland's most wanted man, 54-year-old farmer Charley Junior, was yesterday convicted of charges of abduction and rape.

Justice Lennox Campbell will sentence him in the Portland Circuit Court on June 28.

A jury found Junior guilty of abducting a 30-year-old woman from her home in Millbank, Portland, on August 1, 1998.

The Crown, represented by Tanya Burke, Crown Counsel, led evidence that Junior tied a rope around the woman's neck and also tied her hands.

The woman testified that he led her like a cow into the bushes where he raped her. He kept her in the bushes from August 1 to August 6, 1998 before he released her.

The police said they had been searching for Junior for the last 15 years in the bushes where he had been living. The police captured Junior in bushes in Portland on January 20 this year.
