LETTER OF THE DAY - Yes to smoke ban, longer school hours
The Editor, Sir: I wish to commend the St. James Parish Council for taking the bold stance against tobacco smoking within the confines of the parish council building.

Afflicted with PhD syndrome

The Editor, Sir: recall when my children were growing up, one of the things I would tell them when I have to correct them is, "If you won't control yourself from inside, you will be controlled from outside."

Names missing from EOJ list

The Editor, Sir: It is apparent that many people will be in for a rude awakening on election day as many people's names are being left off the voters' list.

Unbelievable Cockpit study

The Editor, Sir: I can hardly believe what I have just read in the article 'Cockpit study to be disclosed', that a Government-appointed team spent three months and more than $2 million studying the Cockpit Country boundaries and didn't seek to meet with the Cockpit Country Stakeholders Group (CCSG).

Reconsider the London route

The Editor, Sir: As a United Kingdom resident who frequents Jamaica I was quite saddened to recently learn that later this year Air Jamaica will totally cease flying to England, and will be superseded by Virgin Atlantic Airlines.

Confidence tricksters

The Editor, Sir: I wish to bring to the attention of readers two scams being operated in the Corporate Area that target gated properties, such as townhouses and apartment complexes.

NEPA's study on Canoe Valley

The Editor, Sir: The National Environ-ment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is undertaking a study of the Canoe Valley area on behalf of its client the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA).
