The term 'smartphone' may simply be defined as a full-featured mobile phone with personal computer-like functions. Or better yet, a cellular phone that's almost a computer. There are quite a few of these phones available on the market. You have the Palm Treos, Motorola Qs, and the ever so popular Blackberrys. Another such phone is the Sony Ericsson P990i, and this phone almost has it all.
HAVING IT ALL
With slightly robust dimensions, this business-oriented unit is not always the easiest to carry. But, those who do carry the P990i, benefit from Sony Ericsson's ever so accommodating interface. This packaged with the touch screen feature, makes manipulating this phones' applications quite easy. Throw in the 2MP digital camera, (most phones average 1.3MP) and 128MB of internal memory, with a Sony memory stick pro duo expandablecard slot that supports up to 4 gigabytes (just so you know, that's a lot), you would be surprised at how many pictures and mp3s you can store on this device.
The P990i is a GSM tri-band unit that can operate on 900/1800/ 1900 frequencies. Half of us have no idea what that means, but all you need to know is that it works on both C&W and Digicel networks. It supports wireless Internet technology, a.k.a Wi-Fi, several messaging formats, including SMS, EMS, and MMS, as well as email, Bluetooth, HTML, WAP 2.0/XHTML, and Blackberry software (not included with the phone).
For the few of you who understand this terminology, "Congratulations!", but for the rest of us who have no idea, these are terms you can use when explaining how much you paid for this phone (LOL).
And Even More
The P990i also plays mp3, supports personalised ring tones, has a built in FM radio, photo album, speakerphone, a full-size keyboard, handwriting recognition, and easy to use office applications for business people on the go who are not only concerned with how many BLUETEETS! your phone supports (that's a joke).
All humour aside, the Sony Ericsson P990i is an affordable and impressive smartphone that supports both business and pleasure. The P990i might not make you smarter, but it may just help improve your productivity.
The Sony Ericsson P990i is now available at any of the following Watts New branches; Watts New, Tropical Plaza, Watts New, Ocho Rios, and Watts New, Liguanea. Email us at: lifestyle@ gleanerjm.com or tnem19@ yahoo.com
