THE JAMAICA Olympic Association (JOA) has named a large contingent of 110 athletes and 51 officials to represent the island at the XV Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from July 13-29.

Jamaica will participate in 10 disciplines - track and field, badminton, boxing, cycling, equestrian, football (male and female), basketball (female), swimming, taekwondo and tennis.

Track and field, with 48 athletes (25 women and 23 men) and nine officials, is the largest of the teams which were announced at a final meeting of athletes and JOA officials at the Knutsford Court Hotel on Monday evening.

Jamaica will be represented in female football and equestrian for the first time. The lone equestrian athlete is British-based Samantha Albert. She will participate in eventing, an equestrian event which comprises dressage, cross-country and show-jumping.
