published: Sunday | July 8, 2007

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Linval Bailey has issued a warning to travelling People's National Party (PNP) supporters, who are expected to traverse the island to the mass meeting scheduled for Half-Way Tree this evening, to abstain from the unruly behaviour often associated with campaign tours.

"We are warning people to obey the rules. No riding on the top of buses, there should be no faulty overtaking or careless driving. The police will be there and we are prepared to enforce the law where we see breaches."

DCP Bailey also says police preparations for the event are well under way and at an advanced stage with 300 police personnel expected to be deployed during the meeting. He said that the police have had briefings with the organisers of the event to ensure its smooth flow and secure the location throughout the meeting.
