Former Montego Bay mayoris dead
published: Sunday | July 8, 2007

Adrian Frater, News Editor

Western Bureau :

Veteran politician and former Mayor of Montego Bay, businessman Milton Stewart, has died after a distinguished 24-year career in local government.

Stewart, who represented the People's National Party as councillor for the Anchovy division in two stints between March 1969-March 1981, and July 1986-September 1998, passed away on Friday after what close associates said was a brief illness.

In a message of condolence from the St. James Parish Council, the usually calm and unassuming Stewart was hailed as a sincere individual and a lover of people, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of local government, both locally and internationally.
