"The operation was conducted by men from the Spanish Town and Special Anti-crime task Force and it was a success," remarked Detective Sergeant Paul Thomas. He told The Gleaner that the search of the area followed the fatal confrontation between the lawmen and Carlton Ellis and Nigel Francis in the nearby Bongo Lane area after they reportedly engaged the police in a shoot out earlier in the morning.

The police claimed to have recovered a .380 semi-automatic pistol along with four rounds from Francis' body.
