Prophet Phinn and the science of sevens
published: Wednesday | July 11, 2007

PHINN

IT WAS either coincidence or divine guidance that led Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller down sevens road on Sunday night.

However, prophet Dr. Phillip Phinn says he has nothing to do with the interference of the sevens in Jamaica's 15th parliamentary elections.

"You may want to call it a mere coincidence," Dr. Phinn, the self-styled prophet told The Gleaner a day after the People's National Party (PNP) mass rally in Half-Way Tree, St. Andrew.

Dr. Phinn, who in January released his prophetic declaration - The Law of the Sevens and the Seventh Prime Minister - said God had selected Mrs. Simpson Miller to rule Jamaica.

"Seventh Prime Minister, you will be elected in 07 to rule over a land with seven letters (JAMAICA) with 7x2 parishes that has the seventh largest natural harbour in the world.

"The letters in your name are 7x3 (Portia Lucretia Simpson) and with Miller added the number of letters is 27," Dr. Phinn said.

However he carried the word of divinity from God in January and reminded the country about them in April, Dr. Phinn said he did not influence Mrs. Simpson Miller's date.

In fact, he does not feel compelled to get involved in the political process to the point that he has not even been enumerated. The prophet of the Life Ministries church on Hagley Park Road maintains that he is not a supporter of the PNP and says he will not be voting on election day.

"I am not a PNP, I am not a supporter of the PNP and I don't have a vote ... I have been sent by the Lord," Dr. Phinn said.

The will of the Lord

Asked if he prays for a victory for the PNP, Dr. Phinn said he prays that the will of the lord may me done.

Almost daring when she spoke on Sunday night, Mrs. Simpson Miller said she was the seventh Prime Minister of Jamaica and Jamaica has seven national heroes, hence her reason for announcing nomination day as August 7.

But it seemed the seven had to clash. She announced August 27th as election day, which is seven weeks away and asked the Church to pray for peace between the seven-day period July 31 - August 6.

"I was as surprised as everybody else," Dr. Phinn said.

It remains to be seen if the will of the Lord will definitely ensure Mrs. Simpson Miller and the PNP being returned to power or if the symbolic number 8, which Dr. Phinn says means "new beginnings" will play itself out into an eighth Prime Minister in Opposition Leader Bruce Golding on the morning of August 28, the day after the sevens have ended.
