Lambert Brown flip-flopsOver the last year, I have become quite confused by the pronouncements on air and in print by your guest columnist, Lambert Brown. I recall quite clearly he was a strident critic of the governing party up to February 2006.
Indeed, Mr. Brown is reported in The Gleaner of February 14, 2006 as having told a JLP Area One council meeting held at Shortwood Teachers' College, "Like the majority of Jamaicans, I am tired of a government that has grown tired."
He listed a litany of woes of this government and went on to advise the JLP to improve its public relations machinery to counteract 'downright biased' coverage by news organisations. Subsequent arguments put forth by Mr. Brown since March 2006 are therefore showing him as either flip-flopping, or not sure of which side to take.
Then again, he may just be a man singing for his supper.

Electiondate discomfortAs a Jamaican living in New York City, I am happy that there is a date for the election. It would have been nice if the election was held before the summer break. I just purchased tickets for my children to spend their summer vacation there. However, based on the incidents of past elections I don't feel comfortable visiting or sending my children to Jamaica at this time.

What is Portia's track record?Mrs. Portia Simpson Miller has had about three ministries, and has never excelled in any - not in sports, not in tourism, not in local government. She has also been a Member of Parliament for over 30 years in one constituency.
The constituency is easily one of the worst-run in the country - many people do not even have running water there. If she cannot effectively administer a ministry, not to mention her constituency, how is she going to govern a country?
Take off your blinkers and take a serious look at every candidate that both parties have selected. Look at their profiles and professions, along with their track record. Compare them and then make an informed decision as to which party has the better candidates to govern this country.
