LETTER OF THE DAY - Free education at whose expense?
The Editor, Sir: While Bruce Golding is busy promising free education at the secon-dary level, he should be aware tha this will greatly improve access, there is no guarantee that, by itself, we will see a corresponding improvement in either participation or achievement.
Bennett is out of order
The Editor, Sir: I am outraged at statements made by former president of the National Democratic Movement, Hyacinth Bennett, which mischievously suggest, that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller's use of the number 7, is bordering on superstition and the occult.
Disingenuous politicians
The Editor, Sir: Politicians on both sides have often played on issues or situations to embellish their candidacies or their parties' positions. However, I find it somewhat troubling if not seriously disingenuous when some politicians go beyond the means to pretty things up.
Seven letters, seven scandals
The Editor, Sir: Like the Prime Minister I find that playing with the number seven can be an intriguing game. For instance, I fell asleep the other night while listening to Ben E. King wailing ... As I snoozed, there came before me the word scandal and I noted that it contained seven letters.
