The Editor, Sir:Politicians on both sides have often played on issues or situations to embellish their candidacies or their parties' positions. However, I find it somewhat troubling if not seriously disingenuous when some politicians go beyond the means to pretty things up.
Lisa Hanna's recent assertion, as reported, in her using her status as a single mother to highlight the PNP's supposed achievements respecting the country's youth is simply dishonest.
Certainly, Lisa is a mother; however, she does not play the daily role of a typical Jamaican mother, let alone that of a single mother. Ms. Hanna does not have legal or physical custody of her son, who remains in the United States with his father. So, unlike several of our young women who are stuck at home with a child or more with no caring father around, Lisa has no such experience. Her motherly role was an apparently brief one.
I am, etc.,
