Bell on revenge mission

MIAMI, Florida (CMC):

Jamaican ex-world cruiserweight boxing champion O'Neil 'Supernova' Bell, pledging to avenge his loss to Jean-Marc Mormeck in March, begins his comeback next month.

The U.S.-based Bell is still angry about the judges' scores that gave Mormeck a unanimous-decision points win over him in March and he plans to inflict his fury on all his opponents until he gets his revenge against Mormeck.

The 32-year-old Bell has signed to face highly rated Louis Azille on August 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena and is predicting a quick night.

"Every fighter I meet, when that bell rings, I will be picturing Mormeck there in front of me. I will not stop knocking people out until we settle our score," said the Atlanta-based Bell.

"From here on out, my opponents, including Mormeck, will never hear the final bell," he added.

On March 17 in France, hometown hero Mormeck avenged a January 2006 loss to Bell with a contentious win over Bell, securing the judges' favour 115-113 (twice) and 116-112.

Bell complained that Mormeck ran away from him in the critical last four rounds and did not do enough to earn the World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA) titles he took from him.

"It was disgraceful what the judges did to me in France on March 17th, and even more disgraceful that Mormeck chooses to call himself a champion after running from me for the last four rounds," Bell said.

"I just hope he is more courageous in accepting a third fight than he was in running away from me in our second one," Bell added.

Solid record

Bell takes a solid ring record of 26 wins (24 knockouts) against two losses and one draw into his contest next month with the experienced Azille, who is originally from the Dominican Republic, and is now based in New Jersey, U.S.A.

Azille, 36, has two losses on his log to Guyana's Wayne Braithwaite. He was beaten by Braithwaite on a third-round knockout in November 2001 in a WBC title eliminator, and lost again to the Caribbean boxer on points in April 2004 when he had challenged for the WBC belt that Braithwaite had won by defeating Italian Vicenzo Cantatore in October 2002.

Azille's ring record is 19 wins (15 knockouts) against three losses and two draws.
