WESTERN BUREAU:

A 21-year-old man implicated in two murders and the wounding of a woman in Montego Bay, was denied bail in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The accused man, Keris Doyle of Crawford Street in Mount Salem, St. James, will remain in custody until his August 13 court date.

He is answering two counts of murder, a charge of wounding with intent, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Formal charges were levelled against Doyle on July 13, six days after police received information that he had been involved in the two murders committed at Mt. Salem in April and June respectively. A woman was also shot and injured during the June incident and is now crippled.

Defence attorney George Duncan, in a bail application, said identification would be a live issue as his client is denying any connection or knowledge of the incidents. He said there have been no identification parades to support the claims of witnesses that it was in fact Doyle who carried out the shootings.

However, the investigating officer in the second shooting told the court that the complainant in the wounding matter could not attend an identification parade because of her condition but did give statements to say that she knew the accused for two years by his first name.
