The police yesterday conducted forensic analysis on the motor vehicle of Dr. Peter Vogel, lecturer at the University of the West Indies (UWI), who was found dead on Thursday at his College Common residence in Mona, St. Andrew.Head of the St. Andrew Central Criminal Investigative Branch, Deputy Superintendent McArthur Sutherland, said Dr. Vogel’s motor vehicle, which went missing from his house, was found on Beechwood Avenue, St. Andrew, Thursday evening.
“We are looking for any latent impressions that might give us some clue as to who was driving the vehicle,” DSP Sutherland told The Gleaner yesterday.
The 60-year-old zoology lecturer’s body was found bound and gagged on the floor of his study. There were no visible marks on the body, but the police suspect that he was murdered.
Found at home
Dr. Vogel was at home with his children ages 10 and seven and a person who works closely with him while his wife was overseas.
His 10-year-old daughter stumbled upon his body about 4:00 a.m. and alerted close friends to the find.
Last night, the Falmouth Central Investigation Branch was questioning a female in relation to the murder of Vogel. The womanis said to be Dr. Vogel's household helper.
