Two men on murder charges make appearance
published: Saturday | July 21, 2007

Two men who were charged in separate incidents with several counts of murder appeared in the Home Circuit Court yesterday.

They are in custody and Justice Patrick Brooks has ordered them to return to court on September 21.

The men are 31-year-old security guard Jeffrey Perry, who is charged with the murder of three children in St. Mary, and 39-year-old Michael McLean, who is charged with the murder of six members of a family in St. Thomas.

Perry is to undergo further psychiatric evaluation following an application made by the defence.

Fit to stand trial

In January this year, a seven-member jury heard evidence from three psychiatrists and held that Perry was fit to stand trial.

Perry has been undergoing psychiatric treatment since he was arrested and charged in March 2005.

The Crown is alleging that Perry, who is a cousin of the children, fatally stabbed them on January 28, 2005, at their home at Kilancholly, St. Mary.

The deceased are 15-year-old Dwane Davidson, 13-year-old Sue Ann Gordon and four-year-old Shadice Williams.

McLean is charged with the murder of Patrice George-McCool, 28; Sean Chin, Jr, nine; Lloyd Marshall George McCool, three; Jihad George McCool, seven; Jesse O’Gilvie, nine; and Terry-Ann Mohammed, 40, all of Duhaney Pen, St. Thomas. They were murdered on February 26 last year.

McLean was deported to Jamaica from the United States in September 2001.
