The east lawns of King’s House may have been parched from weeks of sustained drought, but with very little humidity, guests enjoyed the entertainment and lavish fare provided for the visit of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and his petite wife Columba.

It was Tuesday, July 17, and the brother of United States President George Bush was in the island at the invitation of Scotiabank for their lecture series last Wednesday.

From a martini bar to a military band, the lady behind it all, Joan McDonald, and her team pulled out some special stops to show the Bush duo the finest Jamaican hospitality. The area was festive and relaxed with colours reflecting the warmth of the Caribbean.

Maureen Capelton created a VIP lounge, complete with red leather sofas for the visitors, as well as pedestal tables with stools for guests to rest their weary legs. The absolutely delicious food prepared by Lorraine Fung was enjoyed by all.
