Political harmony
published: Wednesday | July 25, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

RECENT POLITICAL events in Spanish Town have increased the hope that has laid dormant in many Jamaicans, where the possibility of a time can come when supporters of both political parties can live together in peace and harmony, each to his own political leaning. It was an excellent example being set by both political parties, that a time must come when the stupidity must stop.

The respect for all the candidates has grown to a higher level and special commendation must be made of Olivia 'Babsy' Grange and Sharon Hay-Webster whose display of love, respect and affection on stage was worth my viewing time.

I do hope that other candidates can follow this example and all show love and unity by keeping joint meetings where opposing parties can share the same stage. Let us see a meeting where there are green- and orange-clad supporters listening to both candidates vying for their votes. Let us see a joint meeting at the National Stadium before the election, I beg both leaders.

I am, etc.,
