Daren Powell is set to make his English County Championship debut today for Hampshire.
The West Indies fast bowler has received clearance from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) and could appear in the Championship match against Sussex at the ultra-modern Rose Bowl.
Powell returned to Britain yesterday after flying to Chicago over the weekend to secure the relevant visa, and his place in the final 11 is reportedly contingent on his recovery from jet lag.
The 29-year-old Powell is part of a 12-member Hampshire squad - under the captaincy of legendary Australian leg-spin bowler Shane Warne - which held on for a draw against Durham on Monday at the Riverside, after Ottis Gibson snared all 10 wickets in the first innings.
Hampshire will once again be without Chris Tremlett, who keeps his place in England's squad for the second Test against India after his debut at Lord's.
