Powell gets more wickets
published: Monday | July 30, 2007

POWELL

SOUTHAMPTON, England (CMC):

West Indies fast bowler Daren Powell grabbed two wickets for Hampshire but their Championship match against Sussex finished in a tame draw Saturday.

Powell claimed two for 32 as Sussex reached 124 for four in their second innings in the rain-hit encounter at The Rose Bowl.

The 29-year old Powell, who has played 22 Tests for the West Indies, also bowled impressively in the first innings to take three wickets as Sussex were dismissed cheaply for 145.

Hampshire replied with 250 thanks to John Crawley's unbeaten 113.

The match was Powell's debut game for the south England club.
