The Editor, Sir:I have had the privilege to know and work with Lloyd Wright during the time when he was at Projects For People and I worked at the Caribbean People's Development Agency (CARIPEDA) which was an umbrella organisation of NGOs in the Caribbean, then based in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Lloyd had a deep sense of commitment to rural development and it was clearly visible in his work. His quick and articulate way of thinking and formulating ideas and ventures for the NGO community during his time at PFP was sometimes mistaken for arrogance, and it clearly irked many of his colleagues within the CARIPEDA network who were not ready for his level of thinking and optimism for ways to move the NGO community forward. He served with distinction on the CARIPEDA board as he brought his own unique brand of dealing with problems and other intricacies that threatened the network at the time.
He was very proud of the 3M cheese-making factory and I had the opportunity to visit the factory during my first CARIPEDA meeting in 1989.
My condolences to his family especially to his daughter, Ghenete, who he was very proud of and talked about frequently at our meetings. May he rest in peace.
I am, etc.,
