LETTER OF THE DAY - Political agendas ignore a deteriorating culture
The Editor, Sir:I am distressed and dissatisfied with the issues that are placed as most important on the agenda of the campaigning political parties. Admittedly, I have only found the patience just recently to endure an entire campaign speech but I know that crime...

Emancipation: Jubilation or thoughtful reflection?

The Editor, Sir: The great euphoria surrounding Emancipation Day celebrations on August 1 has always disturbed me.This disturbing feeling stems from the fact that there are still some lingering myths about the abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire in the 1830s.

Governance moving forward

THE EDITOR, Sir: Unfortunately, I don't get a sense that our Jamaican politicians have a genuine interest in educating and sophisticating the electorate in making well-informed choices in compliance with the 21st century of human development and awareness.

Promises galore

The Editor, Sir: What I am seeing and hearing are just plain promises, especially by the Opposition. They have promised free education, free medical treatment for everyone, now they are to implement an amnesty for taxis, how many more promises are they going to make?

Moved to tears by manifesto

The Editor, Sir: I want to share with you an experience that I had listening to Mr. Golding on Monday July 30, 2007, during the delivery of the JLP'S manifesto. Sir, I was moved to tears, uncontrollable tears for the first time, as an adult.
