Kwesi Mugisa, Staff ReporterHydel Prep's Jason Wright topped the honours list of 40 youngsters who competed in the Prep School All-Stars Football Camp recently and will, as a result, enjoy an all-expense paid trip to Spain courtesy of Locker Room Sports.
The tour of Spain, which will be held in December, is put on by United States-based football coaching clinic Esoccer and will give the players a rare opportunity to view and be instructed by world class players and coaches.
The two-day camp was held at the Barbican football field and was organised by Ballaz International in association with Kinetic Sports Management.
During the camp, the players were taught the basics of balance, movement, heading, correct kicking techniques, the techni-calities of both long and short passes and shooting in front of goal.
Showcase talent
The players were then given an opportunity to showcase all that they had learnt in a one-hour session used to incorporate all the techniques taught over the two day period at the end of camp.
"They really enjoyed the camp, and the trip will be a good opportunity to develop and have a look at how other youngsters their age are playingthe game around the world," said Locker Room Sports Managing Director David Shirley "We can only send one player but you have others that have been outstanding as well so we would love for the rest of corporate Jamaica to chip in and give these youngsters a chance."
In addition to the main prize, the players were also graded in various categories.
Dale Brissett was awarded the best header, Odean Black was voted best passer, Wright also received the best shooter, controller and dribbler awards.
Other sponsors which were present at the camp included Wisynco, through its Wata and Ocean Spray brands, Domino's Pizza, Barbican Football Club and Avantgarde Hireage Services.
