The Editor, Sir:Last year during the investiture of our first female Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller, a feeling of euphoria swept over me. I had goose pimples just knowing that someone from such humble beginnings could defy the odds and create history in this country.
Alas, my sense of pride and joy has now turned into bewilderment. Our Prime Minister, who has declared Christian inclinations and that she has been chosen by God to lead the nation on a number of occasions by her pronouncements and her "toe-to-toe" attitude (as old-time people would say) when she feels that certain remarks are made against her, makes one question her sincerity. The Bible says, "By their fruits you shall know them."
You see, madam Prime Minister, it takes humility, meekness, forgiveness, patience, temperance and love to all your "fellowmen", inter alia, to be a true Christian, and I would have thought that as a Christian you would take the moral high ground to implore your colleagues to refrain from the curt/derogatory manner in which they mortify their opponents on the campaign trail and you too are sometimes caught up in the "cass cass".
I am, etc.,
