Better future
published: Sunday | August 5, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I am a Canadian citizen living near Toronto, but very interested in your upcoming election on account of having family members resident in Kingston.

I have had the privilege to sit as a visitor in your Parliament I have heard Bruce Golding speak, and I have read and reread his April budget speech. Considering past problems of corruption and political shortcomings and now the current critical conditions in Jamaica, I am impressed that there is, in fact, a leader who has the insight and courage to undertake the immense task of restructuring your country to reach the potential which I, for one, believe Jamaica is capable of. I am impressed, by Mr. Golding's broad understanding of world events, by his sound economic principles, by his sound moral approach to social issues, and by his rising far above mere political rhetoric.

His approach is much superior to any political platform that centres on the promotion of a personality cult, which historically often ends in ultimate disaster (e.g. Napoleon, Hitler, etc.)

Rebuilding the entire economic and social structure of a country takes time to show results, but it is the only way to provide a better future. Yes.

I am, etc.,

VINCE TAYLOR
