Kensington off the mark in all-island one-day

Defending champions Kensington registered their first win of the 2007 Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) All-island limited overs competition when they beat Kingston and St. Andrew by 181 runs at Maxfield Park yesterday.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Kensington made 290 for eight off their 50-overs, with Rasheed Outar scoring an unbeaten 104 not out. Outar received good support from Peter Colquhoun who made 55.

When Kingston and St. Andrew batted they were bowled out for a mere 109 in 43.5 overs. Salmon Darby top-scored with 31, against Gavaskar Brown 4-16 and Outar 3-18.

Portland, Trelawny, St. Thomas and Police also recorded victories.

At Nelson Oval: St. Thomas first made 191 in 42.4 overs and then dismissed the home side for 134 in 30.5 overs. Omar Brooks took 5-43 for St. Thomas.

At Kirkvine Oval: After being asked to take first strike, Manchester were bowled out for 161 in 39 overs with Donovan Sinclair getting 65. In their reply, Police made 161 in 33.4 overs. Odane Hutchinson 62 not out and Renford Pinnock 32 were leading scorers for Police.

At Folly Oval: Emelio Reid made 48 to guide Portland to 172 for eight in from 45 overs. In their reply, Kingston were blown away for 114 in 39.2 overs. Carston Clarke 3-19 and Darren Gray 3-30 were the top wicket takers for Portland.

AT Trelawny Stadium: The hosts first made 169 in 45.5 overs and then dismissed Westmoreland for a mere 84 in 28.2 overs. Oral Ranking 5-19 and Kemar Allen 2-26 were the leading wicket-takers for Trelawny.
