The Editor, Sir:I read Ms. Heather Robinson's commentary published recently, and am one with her on the comments she made regarding improvements in the road network and how this has improved the lives of Jamaicans.
What people need to realise is that with the opening up of the road network, a lot of progress has been made. More investors will set up businesses out of town because of the ease of transporting their goods and people, and more people in rural communities can be employed.
volume of traffic
Look at the volume of traffic coming into Kingston every morning. Most of these people live in St. Catherine, Clarendon, and sometimes as far as Mandeville, and work in Kingston. It is the new road network that has made all of this possible.
As a matter of fact, many people who could not afford the high-priced Kingston houses now own beautiful houses outside of Kingston. Their achievement of this goal was made possible because of Highway 2000. Many people owe much thanks to the foresight of PNP visionaries. So let's give thanks and praises.
I am, etc.,
