Jeneil Williams has dreams of being spread across every major magazine cover and to trot runways from the Caribbean to the world. This summer, the 18-year-old model is heating up the beach and the cover of SHE magazine, the region's top fashion file. Williams will also be appearing in the urban trendsetter, Trace magazine.
A recent stint in Japan's Neutral magazine has put her in demand in that market as several requests have come in for the young model to travel to Japan.
British Glamour has also got its focus on Williams with an eight-page hold on the chocolate coloured beauty.
Wish unfolding
Dubbed the 'black beauty' by SHE Caribbean, Willams always knew she was destined for the world of modelling.
"Modelling is something I always wanted to do, so I had to do it. I got a lot of support from my family, especially my grandmother and aunt," she said.
Her wish is unfolding as her smooth dark complexion glistens on the cover of the July/August issue of the St. Lucia-based SHE magazine.
Coveting the feature story in the magazine, the article praises her "flawless dark skin" and "slim, athletic" physique.
A physique which she shows off to full advantage in a crotched bikini by designer Lubrica, as she rises from the water of the Caribbean sea.
According to Williams, she feels great about the whole experience. She elaborated "the experience so far modelling has been good, I think my career is heading in the right direction".
Hip-hop experienzce
A versatile model, her experience with Trace was much different.
Shot this June on the streets of downtown Manhattan, the shoot had Williams donned the latest urban kicks from Reebok and Adidas, cool hoodies and even 'grills' on her teeth. Trace pulls references not only from rap, but also the culture of reggae's dancehall.
Jeneil's versatility was also in full force as the shoot took an androgynous tone and also had her looking dapper in a tuxedo in Central Park.
"It was a great experience. I loved the hip-hop feel and being able to dress up like a boy," she said.
Open doors for others
Williams had originally placed second in Pulse's Caribbean Model Search in 2005. However, being second had no influence on her career, as she has proven herself more than second best. She is presently signed to Steven Bermudez of New York Models.
For the future, she hopes to open doors for other young up and comers. Now, she is anxiously awaiting her travels abroad to pursue other campaigns and stages to appear on.
