Kirk Franklin headlines Gospel festival in Montego Bay

Sold Out Ministries on August 22-24 presents YouthAid '07, a three-day open-air festival of Bible teaching and gospel music which will be held at Dump-up Beach, Montego Bay.

Sold Out Ministries is a parachurch organisation founded by Paul Blake, former lead singer of the band Blood Fire Posse, and his wife Dorrett.

The festival is targeting persons mainly in the 12-30 age group. The slate of gospel artistes confirmed for the festival includes Kirk Franklin, Papa San, DJ Nicholas, Sherwin Gardner, Judith Gayle, Kerron Ennis, Jason Mighty, Judy Mowatt, Goddy Goddy, New Generation, Stevie B and Paul Blake from Montego Bay. Other ministers will also deliver motivational pieces.

In a release, Sold Out Ministries explained that the festival is designed to have ministry in music followed by a teaching from the Bible in intervals of 20-25 minutes.

Altar call

YouthAid '07 starts nightly at 6:30 and is scheduled to end at 10:30. Each evening will climax with the issuing of a call. At that time, those in attendance may receive from specially designated persons prayer, counselling and deliverance.

During the festival, a number of booths/tents will be mounted offering various services. The exhibitors will include:

Youth Enhancement Service - offering career counselling, training opportunities in skills and character education.

Pregnancy Resource Centre - offering abstinence education, post-abortion counselling, pregnancy tests.

Teen Challenge - education in drug abuse and rehabilitation.

Hands Across Jamaica for Righteousness - encouragement and teaching for a return to the MAP(motto, anthem and pledge).

Temperament therapy - offering personality profiles.

Evangelistic booths - tracts other discipleship material, Christian literature and music.
