Tivoli Gardens, led by a brace from Troydon White, recorded an exciting 3-2 victory over arch-rivals Boys' Town in zone three of their Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Under-17 competition, at Collie Smith Drive yesterday.
The opening Under-13 game between both sides ended in a 2-2 draw.
In other zone three games, Maxfield defeated Allman/Woodford 3-1, Arnett Gardens beat Olympic Gardens 3-0 and Waterhouse whipped Greenwich Town 4-0.
In zone four Under-13 matches, host Pembroke Hall were held to a 2-2 by Cooreville Gardens and it ended 0-0 between Maverley/Hughenden and Seaview Gardens.
White, gave Tivoli Gardens the lead in the 16th minute when he fired home a powerful point-blank left-footed shot past custodian Marlon Murphy.
Close-range header
Richard Decon doubled Tivoli Gardens' lead 10 minutes later when he headed home a close-range header past Murphy.
Raymond Lewis pulled one back for Boys' Town from the penalty spot in the 30th minute, after he was brought down inside the penalty area by Xavier Fuller.
However, on the stroke of half-time, White completed his double when he converted a penalty kick, after he was brought down in the 18 yards box.
Tivoli led 3-1 at the break.
In the second half, substitute Orane Simpson gave the home side a glimmer of hope 10 minutes from time when he fired home a powerful 30 yards shot against the run of play to make it 3-2.
However, the West Kingston-based side overcame the late pressure created by their opponents to hang on for victory.
Christopher Burnett, Tivoli's coach, was contented.
"I am satisfied with the victory because it's three points so I am very pleased for that."
Burnett added: "We have another game on Saturday, so we will had to try and win this game because we wanted to make sure that we topped the zone."
