Wanted men die in shoot-out
published: Thursday | August 16, 2007

Head of the West Kingston Police, Deputy Superintendent Delroy Hewitt, says the killing of two of the area's most wanted men in an alleged shoot-out yesterday, will cause a decrease in shootings in the area.

The two men, Kevin Powell, 26, of Jones Town, and Samora Allen, also known as 'Squire', 24, of Hannah Town, were wanted for several murders and shootings in the two communities.

According to police reports, about 11:00 a.m yesterday, a joint police-military operation in Craig Town was in effect when the officers saw a group of gunmen on Argyle Road. The men engaged the police in a shoot-out and the police returned fire. During the ensuing gun battle, Allen was hit while Powell was found suffering from gunshot wounds. A 9mm pistol with five 9 mm rounds was found.

Allen was wanted for questioning for two murders committed in the Hannah Town community in 2005.
