LONDON, England (CMC):Caribbean strikers Ricardo Fuller and Kenwyne Jones struck goals for their teams in the English League Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Jamaican Fuller scored for Stoke City in a 2-1 victory over Charlton and Jones, from Trinidad and Tobago, was on target for Portsmouth but they lost 2-1 to Norwich.
After no goals in the first half at Britannia Stadium, Andy Reid gave Charlton the lead against Stoke with powerfully struck low free kick in the 55th minute that sliced through the wall past goalkeeper Steve Simonsen.
Fuller levelled the game two minutes later with a superb strike.
His first touch, taking a long, high pass, was effective an he had his back to goal, Fuller dribbled across the box to find room and lashed a powerful right-footer that went searing into the roof of the net.
Fuller was replaced in the 74th minute by Jon Parkin who logged a spectacular winner just four minutes after he entered the game.
The 25-year-old slipped the ball between the legs of Charlton defender Patrick McCarthy and smashed a shot past goalkeeper Nicky Weaver for the winning goal that sent Stoke City to the top of the Coca-Cola League Championship standings.
At Carrow Road, Southampton took the lead on a first-half strike by Jones but surrendered the advantage.
