The approach of Hurricane Dean did not deter the organisers of Renaissance 18th Anniversary Party dubbed Legal, from staging the event at the Temple Hall Estate last Friday.

The Renaissance Disco team gave a blast of a party there were a few 'flat' segments throughout the proceedings.

Patrons partied well into the wee hours of the morning but not before a major hiccup. At 11:40 p.m. the sound system went silent. A group of persons trying to enter the facility were reportedly delayed by security personnel.

After an extensive wait at the entrance they rushed to get inside. Once inside, the vibes began to build. The crowd continued to grow throughout the night.

Selectors mix-off

The party vibe grew with Bounty Killer's It's Tha Party and Deadly Zone and selectors chipped in samples from Fugees and Busta Rhymes before showing who were the 'Real McCoy.'

Raising the Full Clip, hits from Kartel, Mavado and Bount the vibe of the growing crowd.

However, the set became monotonous, as it seemed to have replicated several other parties during the summer.

The party got back into a nice groove when the selectors went retro, unleashing several hard- hitting songs: Half Pint's Greetings, Buju's Murderer, Shabba's Love Punani and Beenie Man's Blessed and Ole Dawg.

Vibrant artistes

When it was announced that Bounty Killer was in the house and Jazzy T took over the turntables, he acknowledged the presence of Killer each time he played one of the artiste's songs. This appeared overdone but the crowd was in a party mood and did not seem to mind.

Renaissance boasted about their new sound system, which sounded quite crisp and perfectly tuned. Several entertainers showed their respect to the Renaissance team including Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, Wayne Marshall and Bounty Killer.

This patron dared to bare in this 'teasing' number.
