EDITORIAL - Challenging days ahead
Jamaica is faced with some difficult days ahead which will require sober leadership at every level - political and civil. We are scheduled to go to the polls for general election within a few days amid some dislocation brought on by Hurricane Dean.

Blow me down!

The first hurricane I remember was 'Charlie'. A cousin of mine and our landlady and her fiancé played dominoes by lantern light until the wee hours of the morning. Every now and then one of us got up and searched the house for leaks. We found none. (Neita)

Government now 'three-ring circus'

The three-ring circus that the Government of Jamaica has become as a result of the necessary postponement of the general election is not something that any of us can complain about. It serves us right.

Issues: Dim view of tongue-lashing

The idea of having a woman prime minister for Jamaica is momentarily quite impressive. However, the need for strong leadership and qualified representation is of greater importance.
