Dim view of tongue-lashingThe idea of having a woman prime minister for Jamaica is momentarily quite impressive. However, the need for strong leadership and qualified representation is of greater importance.
Of deep concern is the embarrassment being felt by many Jamaicans as the character of the Prime Minister Portia Simpson of 'giving tongue' and "not afraid of no man, no woman, (etc.)" is being portrayed. These pathetic and uncivil responses are not worthy of a prime minister. While some individuals may consider this behaviour a joke, leadership of this magnitude goes beyond the corners of Jamaica!
How proud will we be of this leader of Jamaica when she represents us in foreign countries? Or will she? Jamaica has grown beyond sentimentalism. We need leadership that can bring Jamaica to the next level. Moreover, Jamaica needs a government that will not only improve the educational and health care systems, but one that can represent the country with dignity and less street. Jamaica must attempt to regain the respectit once had from the masses and from the world at large.

Witch-huntingAlthough I am a staunch supporter of the PNP, I regret that they should go that route of 'witch hunting' for 'foreigners' as elected officials. Now, if we should go over that clause in the Constitution where it says that the person who willingly swears his/her allegiance to a foreign government should be disqualified from any form of representation in Government, then the Governor-General, the ruling PNP and Her Majesty's loyal opposition and the JLP are all disqualified, because all have sworn allegiance to 'Her Majesty' who happens to be the Queen of England.
