The Editor, Sir:
I would like to commend the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) on their efforts to restore electricity to the island in the wake of Hurricane Dean. The technicians at the light and power company have worked night and day, especially in my area in the parish of St. Thomas. There were numerous light posts that suffered damage, but in spite of this, they were up and about fixing and making our lives somewhat more comfortable. Even though not everyone has had electricity restored to them, I believe that the efforts of the JPS were and continue to be exemplary in their current endeavour.
I must say that not having to parade through the house with a candle or a flashlight, and feeling some cool breeze is quite refreshing. The mosquitoes are finally leaving me in peace without me having to use those disgusting mosquito destroyers, which mostly irritate my sinuses and not do much else.
God bless those technicians. Thank you again, JPS.
I am, etc.,
