PM not coping
published: Thursday | August 30, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Being in Jamaica on vacation this past month and being in tune with what is happening in the lead-up to your general election, one thing is fairly obvious. Your current Prime Minister is unable to cope with the job given to her. Now, I know the comment may draw criticism or support either way, but her answers in the debate were very soft and at times amusing. To compound matters, the botched handling of the hurricane was another sign she is not yet ready to take on the role.

Jamaican friends of mine in Florida who were in contact with me during my stay in Jamaica insisted that Peter Phillips take over the reins to save the face of the party the sentiment is the opposition leader is better Prime Minister material, it is the current government and leader that represent the face of your nation.

In my home back in the Bahamas, I hear Jamaicans openly criticising her as being weak and vengeful I think that is quite unfair, I do agree that she has not done her appointment justice. For the sake of my proud Jamaican friends, I hope that you do get a stronger leader or I guess you'll be ranting and cursing for a long time in the streets of Nassau.

I am, etc.,
