Limited stock market trading on election day
published: Friday | August 31, 2007

The stock market will close early on Monday, the day of national elections.

The Jamaica Stock Exchange said it would cease trading at 11:30 a.m. and that the exchange and its subsidiary, the Jamaica Central Securities Depository, would close at noon.

"This early closure is in the interest of the safety and welfare of our staff members and also to allow staff to vote," said the JSE Wednesday.

The exchange is located downtown on Harbour Street, which sits on the Kingston waterfront.

Normal trading resumes Tuesday, the exchange said.
