Opposition's visit to China worries gov't
published: Friday | August 31, 2007

CASTRIES, St. Lucia (CMC):

Acting Prime Minister Stephenson King has warned about possible superpower involvement in local politics as an opposition St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) delegation pays an extended visit to China.

SLP Leader Dr. Kenny Anthony, his deputy Phillip J. Pierre, and the party's general secretary, Leo Clarke, have been visiting the People's Republic of China since last week, having also paid a visit to Venezuela.

King told reporters Wednesday that the high-level Opposition visit to Beijing was a cause for concern.
