NOTE-WORTHY: How to vote
published: Friday | August 31, 2007

How to vote

As citizens, we should recognise that we all sink or swim if we fail to evaluate the political climate and do what is the correct thing to be done when we go to the polls. We cannot be only emotional creatures at this time. We need to analyse and critically appraise the political situation that is existing at this time in our country.

What we do on September 3 definitely has implications for us and, I dare say, for our children in the near and far future. We must be, therefore, wise at this time as we do what we all have to do on that day.

This is not the time for us to allow opportunist politicians to use mellifluous words and a little handout to buy us. We need to assess where we are, where we want to go and how we will get there. Yes, it is a time to look closely into those manifestos and then do the noble deed.

No contact

Hello Editor, I am concerned for the citizens that reside in the Waltham Park Road area in Kingston, including Pretoria Road and Bertram Lane.

They have no electricity, water or telephone service. It is hard to contact our family in that area.

Please help us by contacting the Jamaica Public Service Company, Cable and Wireless, and the National Water Commission. Thank you.

Offer of help

We are the founders of a non-profit organisation, Pan-American Sports Management, Inc. We utilise education and sports to redirect youth, young adults and their families. It does not take a rocket scientist to know that our brothers and sisters are in need after a hurricane. Most importantly, you are in our prayers and we would like to do whatever we can do to assist in this time of need.

Please contact us via email with a wish list and/or families that are in dire need of immediate clothes, baby pampers, bottled water, etc.

God bless.

Good commentary

Martin Henry's commentary is very appropriate. He should be the Minister of Information or at the least, a member of that portfolio. These are my own personal opinions.

Thank you for all the recent clarity provided by your paper. Thank you for your time and may God bless our beloved nation, Jamaica: so nice you've got to say it three times. Jamaica! Jamaica! Jamaica!
