First Global site hacked
published: Friday | August 31, 2007

The site to which visitors to fgfs.com were diverted yesterday.

The website of First Global Financial Services appears to have been hacked yesterday by an unknown entity calling itself the 'Ayyildiz Team'.

Visitors to www.fgfs.com and its web pages were directed, after a few seconds, to a site called 'www.m0sted.net/kerem125.html', which appeared to be Islamist and whose authors also appeared to be angry with Sweden.

The site declares in poorly-constructed English, 'Damn with, Dawn with Sweden', but the declaration, covering two pages, was in a foreign language.

Not operating from Jamaica

The hacker appeared not to be operating from Jamaica.

First Global was unaware of the problem when The Gleaner called for comment.

Attempts to reach president, Sandra Shirley, were unsuccessful, but FGFS' MIS department said it would investigate.

Shortly after, the diversions to the hacker's site ceased, while the links to web pages from the fgfs.com site were blocked.

The company, which offers corporate finance, securities trading and pension funds management services, is part of the First Global Group of Companies, which is owned by conglomerate, GraceKennedy.

Its FGFS website is powered by Imex Technologies.
