The Editor, Sir:
To the people of St. Thomas and adjoining communities, I had a dream last night, from Deacon Paul Bogle. He said to tell you that widespread 'sufferation' is on the rise. He said to tell the people of Golden Grove, Stokes Hall, Winchester, Port Morant, Airy Castle, Bath, Duckenfield, Dalvey, Cheswick, Barking Lodge, White Horses, Trinityville, Sunny Hill, Rowlandsfield, the supermarkets, restaurant, banks, etc., that it's time for togetherness, it's time for our voices to be heard peacefully. He said our voices are to be heard in every nook and cranny of Jamaica and the four corners of the earth.
He said that we are united but for all the wrong reasons. He said, regardless of your political affiliation, let your voice become one. He said that he is not satisfied with the direction in which we are going. All the factories that help the local economy are gone. The sugar factory only helps for six months and the banana estate helps for 12, but since the passing of 'Dean' the banana is undecided about its continuity.
He said to unite and let your voice be heard for the banana, because if you lose it you will lose a good thing. He said when he thinks of where the banana was in Jamaica and where it is now, his heart burns. He said to rise, but let it be peaceful, let it be as peaceful as it can be. Thank you.
I am, etc.,
Banana Worker
