The Editor, Sir: My grandmother received a cheque recently for Hurricane Dean relief. She was very grateful and she celebrated the receipt of her unexpected money by going to the hairdressing salon and colouring her once grey hair to black.

Containing gov't expenditure

The Editor, Sir: I read with some interest your August 12 editorial entitled 'Two Different Strategies'. It comments unfavourably on the PNP's commitment to "containing government expenditure" which the editorial argues is "simply financial code for minimal social expenditure".

The Portia Factor

The Editor, Sir: The PNP election campaign has apparently been built solely around their new leader Portia Simpson Miller, aka 'Sista P', 'Mama P', to the exclusion, I think mistakenly so, of the party and its team.

Election tie possible

The Editor, Sir: Based upon the various polls that have been conducted surrounding the two major political parties and their respective chances in the upcoming general elections, there is a strong and growing possibility that there may be a tie.
